At the end of the feeding season, the starlings found the grease ball accessible and emptied it really fast. Although they are gluttonous, their plumage has a nice metallic shine, and I like how they can imitate other birds and noises when they sing. Some of them sound like they are trying to phreak old modems… Their winter flocks are also very impressive if messy. The sparrows weren’t able to do the same acrobatics, and could only eye the gluttons with envy from the top of the railing.

À la fin de la saison de nourrissage, les étourneaux ont trouvé comment accéder à la boule de graisse et l’ont vidée très vite. Bien qu’ils soient gloutons, leur plumage a de jolis reflets métalliques, et j’aime bien leur façon d’imiter les autres oiseaux et les bruits ambiants quand ils chantent. Certains ont même l’air d’imiter la porteuse des vieux modems… Leurs vols en groupe l’hiver sont vraiment impressionnants, même s’ils sont salissants. Les moineaux n’ont pas été capables d’être aussi acrobates, et pouvaient seulement observer jalousement les gloutons du haut du rebord du balcon.
